Art Commissioning

Art Commissioning is another service provided by Studio Bof. King's Theatre DomeOver the last 15 years Rachel has been involved in writing briefs, selecting artists, advising clients and applying for funding for various projects. These are both individual works and commissions within larger scale construction projects. Studio Bof manages all aspects of works for any size of project.

Rachel collaborates with various types of artists including sculptors, photographers, painters, textile designers and glass artists. Recent projects include John Byrne’s painting on the dome of the King’s Theatre Edinburgh, obtaining funding and commissioning a sculptor for the research and development phase of a public realm artwork and applying for statutory consents for a shrine in woodland in Perthshire.┬áThe King’s project was the focus of the BBC Documentary on John Byrne as part of their series What Do Artists Do All Day ?

In a previous practice she was responsible for Castle Square, Stranraer which won the Saltire Society’s Award for Arts and Crafts in Architecture (2009-2011) and the Scottish Design Award 2012 for Placemaking and Landscaping.
